Prevention is better than cure
We at Moreton Dental Care want to help you keep your own teeth for life and in great condition.
We cannot emphasise enough what an important role our hygienists have to play in this.
Everyone may dream of having a gleaming healthy smile of straight white teeth, but the starting point to achieve this has to be good oral health.
Regular scaling and polishing in the surgery removes staining and harmful bacteria. If the bacteria is left it can cause gum irritation and eventually lead to gum disease - the number one cause of tooth loss in adults.
Our hygienists will also provide expert advice on your daily cleaning routine at home, a crucial part of your oral health care.
Taking good care of your teeth and gums will not only help you avoid gum disease and bad breath, but in the long run will also save you spending time and money on fillings and extractions.
How to keep smiling with confidence…

How does gum disease affect your teeth?
Gum disease can cause red and swollen gums, bad breath and bleeding when brushing, but it is possible to be suffering from gum disease and not be aware of it.
Gum disease in its first stage is known as gingivitis.
At this point the condition is completely reversible if treated promptly and home care is improved.
If gum disease is left untreated it then progresses to periodontitis.
This starts causing irreversible damage to the supporting bone and fibres, but prompt treatment will halt further deterioration.
If still left untreated advanced periodontitis sets in.
In this final stage the fibres and bones supporting your teeth are destroyed, and can cause teeth to loosen and fall out.
Gum disease is almost completely preventable by taking good care of your teeth and gums. Our hygienists work closely with your dentist to establish whether you have any risk factors for gum disease.
If you already have gum disease our hygienists will determine the best way to tackle it.
A carefully tailored program of oral health improvement and maintenance can pull all but the worst cases back from the brink.
