Welcome to the Moreton Dental Care 'latest news' section, where we will post regular updates from our dental practice, our charity work and developments in the dentistry world.
A Moreton Dental Care patient's life has been transformed by cosmetic dentistry.
Sharon Hayes gives a big grin as she explains how her new-found confidence has enabled her to smile again and has even helped her secure a new job.
Sharon, 47, a book-keeper, was so embarrassed about the gaps in her front teeth when she arrived at Moreton Dental Care she couldn't smile.
She was lacking in confidence and was particularly worried about having photos taken at her forthcoming wedding.
MDC dentist Dr Jon Bankes was able to change all that with composite bonding- a technique that would dramatically improve the appearance of her front teeth.
Composite bonding, also known as composite veneers, is a cosmetic solution for small gaps between teeth, chips and worn edges, and can produce incredible results.
The dentist uses a putty-like material called dental composite to alter the shape of the teeth. It is designed to match the shade of natural teeth and can be moulded to eradicate small irregularities, creating straighter teeth and usually greatly enhancing the patient's smile. Once the composite has been applied it is set with a curing light.
Composite bonding is quicker, cheaper and a far more conservative treatment than porcelain veneers which require the teeth to be cut down before the veneers can be fitted.
Sharon is now learning how to smile again, is looking forward to her wedding next year and has a new job.
A delighted Sharon said: "The treatment has given me great confidence. I've even secured a new job whereas in the past I was really struggling with interviews. Now I'm looking forward to my pending wedding and my photographs. I'm really delighted."
